Asiyah az-Zahra

Dr. Asiyah az-Zahra is an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. She received First Class BA Honours from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Master of Arts with Distinction from Australian National University.

In 2012, she was awarded with PhD from University of Leicester. She teaches historical methodology, tradition and modernisation in Brunei Darussalam and the evolution of philosophy and theories in historical studies.

Her current research and publications focuses on conversion narratives, the Brunei Dusuns and the historical evolution of religion, culture and ethnic identity in Brunei Darussalam and Southeast Asia.

She has served as Vice-President (Brunei Darussalam) and the council member for the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society since 2017.
