Dr. Huong Nguyen is passionate about human development, especially interested in women empowerment and capacity building.
As an Academic Manager at Graduate Research and Research Training, Swinburne University of Technology, she develops, coordinates, and teaches in the innovative inter-disciplinary Graduate Certificate of Research and Innovation Management (GC-RESIM), Swinburne’s strategic course that aims to enhance PhD graduates’ project management and employability skills.
Dr. Nguyen earned a Master’s degree in Educational Management (2008–2009) sponsored by the Australian Government’s Leadership Awards, and a PhD degree in Higher Education Policy and Management (2010–2014), both from the University of Melbourne.
Prior to undertaking her study in Australia, at the age of 27, Dr. Nguyen was one of the youngest female Deans in Vietnam, managing a 130-staff faculty at Hanoi University of Industry, Vietnam.
Her research focus is higher education policy and management, particularly interested in strategic research leadership and career management. Her high-quality research and subject-matter expertise has been widely recognized.
Dr. Nguyen has published in highly regarded journals including Higher Education and Studies in Higher Education and serves on one the editorial board of the Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management.
Finally, Dr. Nguyen also founded and leads the iVANet-RDP, an online community that has connected PhD qualified Vietnamese with thousands of young Vietnamese research students.
