Varissa Mae binti Dr Yabit received her BHSc in Biomedical Sciences from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD; 2018) and MSc in Clinical Pharmacology from University of Aberdeen (2019).
During her time in UBD, she also did her internships in pharmacology at Kagawa University (2016) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (2017) in both pharmacology and parasitology.
Whilst her research interests are in the medicinal and herbal actions of various traditional plants in Brunei Darussalam, she also has interest in the study of internationalization, social mobility and higher education in Brunei Darussalam and beyond.
Now working as a research assistant at the International and Comparative Education (ICE) Research Group, she is currently involved in several research projects as well as in various administrative works at ICE including participating and organizing research seminars which would broaden her knowledge outside the science field.
She was also an active student involving in many activities such as with the Global Discovery Program (GDP) in 2015 where she helped organise and promote the program as well as taking care of the international students.
She was also involved in many media related works including being the vice-head of videography for the EXCO media, media crew in IHS Student Council, the media and design crew in UBDTV and the production of a short film during her UBD Bachelor degree.
